Last night was the first time I have ever had my art displayed in a public venue, and I’ve got to say, it went pretty well! I had an incredibly good time and I met quite a few people who I never would have met, had it not been for my friend Summur showing her boss my art! In Ashland, OR there are a few shops who participate in “First Friday Art Walks” and Alex was looking for a new local artist to feature at The Plaza Salon & Spa. Summur showed her my Facebook page and voila, I GOT THE SPOT!
There was a live band playing there as well, called 100 Watt Mind. Their music was incredible, all of the members are SO talented and they captured the Joplin/Zeppelin style of music so well. I enjoyed every minute of it!
That night, I sold 2 pieces, one to a friend (Chris Morey) and another to a young woman (who I believe is named Mallory, but the music was so loud it was hard for me to hear exactly what she said…So, if your’e reading this, and your name isn’t Mallory- SORRY! You’re wonderful and if I could thank you a zillion times, I would!) She was really sweet! Then earlier today, my mother-in-law’s sister Sharon bought two pieces, and then the wonderful Yoko (a hairdresser at the salon) bought a painting from me! I am truly blessed to have such luck, especially since this is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. I’m excited to see what the rest of the month has in store for me!
I’ve also secured a commission from Stephanie, the girl who works reception at the salon, as well as a couple other commissions from friends.
I’ll be making business cards on Monday (since I have the money to do it now, THANK YOU!) and I’ll be bringing them back to the salon on Wednesday so that the girls there can hand them out if anyone else is interested in my art.
Anyway, I just want to say thank you to everyone who participated in this event. It means the world to me to have such a supportive community surrounding me. I hope that my art continues to captivate and please my viewers. I love seeing smiles on people’s faces when they look at the work that I do. Thank you all, so very much, from the bottom of my heart. <3
